Ex-NFL kicker Shayne Graham now special-teams analyst at MSU

East Lansing — Shayne Graham’s internship was a quick one at Michigan State.

That’s because the former NFL kicker has assumed a full-time position with the Spartans as special teams analyst, just more than a month after he became a special-teams intern with the program.

“Excited to have recently accepted the full time position as Special Teams Analyst for Michigan State University Football,” Graham said Thursday on Twitter. “Continuing the work preparing for the 2018 season as I had been doing as the Special Teams Intern.”

Graham, who was a quality control coach last season at Central Michigan, will work with special teams coordinator Paul Haynes, who is in his first season at Michigan State as the secondary coach after a five-year run as the head coach at Kent State.

During a 15-year NFL career, Graham played for 10 different teams. He was an All-Pro in 2005 with the Bengals and played in the Pro Bowl that season. He was a four-time nominee for Walter Payton Man of the year during his time with the Bengals.

Graham also played for the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.

He is 34th all-time in field goals made (277), and 36th all-time in points scored (1,260).

Graham played in college at Virginia Tech.
