East Lansing — Michigan State’s Board of Trustees gave approval on Friday to a planned renovation of the south end zone of Spartan Stadium.
The plan calls for an addition that will be a one-story structure and will include new restrooms and concession stands as well as a pavilion on the south end of the stadium. There is no specific dollar amount for the project but the university said it will be paid for with athletic department funds.
The project could eliminate about 100 parking spots but will not have any impact on seating inside the stadium. It is expected to be completed by the time the 2017 season begins.
It is the second significant addition to the stadium in recent years after a $24.5 million expansion of the north end zone was completed in 2014. That included new locker rooms and a new media center.
The board also approved on Friday the renovation of coaches offices and meeting rooms at Jenison Field House.
