Kalea spent five years reporting in her hometown, Youngstown, Ohio, before coming to the Battle Creek Enquirer in April 2018. In 2019, she began reporting for The Detroit News. She's wanted to be a reporter since she was 8 years old, and she hopes to remain a reporter until she's too old to chase the story.
