Traverse City Whiskey Co.'s virtual release of new barrel proof cherry whiskey: Cherry Whiskeyfest is a live, virtual event to celebrate the release of Traverse City Whiskey Co.'s new Barrel Proof Cherry Whiskey. Taste along at 8 p.m. Aug. 12 with their mail order kit, which includes a 200ml bottle of the new product, a 2-ounce bottle of the classic American Cherry Edition bottle proof (for comparison), plus other goodies like a branded glass, bandana, hand sanitizer and a jar of premium cocktail cherries. Preorder at tcwhiskeyshop.com/traverse-city-cherry-whiskey-fest.

Traverse City Whiskey Co. is hosting a virtual tasting to celebrate the release of its new barrel proof cherry whiskey.

Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant reopens: The third Michigan location of this wine bar and restaurant recently reopened after closing shortly after its debut before the shutdown of dining rooms in March. Dave’s Hot Chicken plans Michigan expansion: Los Angeles-based fried chicken chain Dave’s Hot Chicken is planning to open 25 restaurants throughout Michigan and Ohio. The first locations are expected to land in Flint and Saginaw. The fast-casual concept debuted in 2017 and serves tenders and sliders. 

Chef Amado Lopez at Frame: Enjoy Tijuana-style tacos from chef Lopez, who has cooked in Mexico and Chicago, attended the Culinary Institute of America and spent time cooking with Mexican cuisine expert Rick Bayless. His three-week residency at Frame inside Joebar features patio dining with multi-course meal or take-home carryout meal option ($35). Mexican cocktails are on the menu, too. Bottomless pasta deals at Andiamo: Members of Andiamo restaurants’ Mille Grazie members (it’s free to sign up) can get bottomless pasta specials every Monday for $11.95. This includes a variety of noodle and sauce choices, plus bread and soup or salad. Add on proteins for an additional cost. Kids can get the bottomless pasta deal for free. Bloody Mary Garden Party at the Whitney: As part of the historic restaurant’s annual Cityfest dining series, enjoy a Sunday afternoon in the Whitney’s garden with customizable Bloody Marys from Valentine Vodka.
