3 killed inside White Castle ID'd

Three men in their early 20s were fatally shot Sunday morning in the lobby of a White Castle on Detroit's west side, police said.

The triple shooting took place about 12:25 a.m. inside the restaurant on the 6300 block of West Warren, just west of Livernois.

Police arrived at the scene to find the three victims in the lobby area. Bullet holes riddled the windows. Handguns were recovered.

Officer Vanessa Burt said two men entered the eatery and shot the three men.

On Monday, the Wayne County Medical Examiner identified the three victims as DeShawn Gadson, 20; Trevaughn Anthony, 24; and Rashawn Harrington, 25.

Both Anthony and Harrington were shot multiple times, and their deaths are homicides. Gadson's autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

On Monday, police described the two suspects only as masked men standing 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing dark clothes, and armed with guns.

While the restaurant serves customers 24 hours, seven days a week, the inside lobby area is only open to the public from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., according to a posting on the front door. 

By mid-morning Sunday, a window on the east side of the building remained shot out, as were doors on its west side, which had about 20 bullet holes.

Signs posted at the drive-through order box and pickup windows indicated the store would re-open for business Monday. Employees refused to answer the front door while cleaning the restaurant’s broken glass or speak to a reporter Sunday.

In a statement Monday, White Castle vice president Jamie Richardson said: “As a family owned business, our number one priority and concern is the safety of our neighborhoods. We are working very closely with local law enforcement to support efforts as the investigation of this tragic and troubling event continues. We are thankful for the first responders who rushed to the scene and we are thankful none of our team members were physically harmed. We are providing our team access to counseling support.”
