The 24-year-old man accused in the slayings of his sister and her boyfriend last weekend has been arrested, Clinton Township police said Thursday.

Robert Leo Marzejka was apprehended at about 2 p.m. Wednesday in Cincinnati by United States Marshals, officials said.

"Marzejka was taken into custody without incident and is currently being lodged in the Hamilton County Jail awaiting extradition to Michigan," Clinton Township police said in a statement. "His 1999 Ford van was recovered in Toledo and is being held in the evidence garage at the Clinton Township Police Station."

Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith has charged Marzejka with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his 18-year-old sister, Danielle Marzejka, and her 19-year-old boyfriend, Seren Bryan, 19.

Police said he is accused of killing his sister and Bryan, whose bodies were found Sunday in a shed behind the woman's home on Culver in Rudgate, a mobile home community north of 16 Mile and west of Groesbeck.

Robert Leo Marzejka was last seen driving a white 1999 Ford E-250 van, Michigan license plate # DGM7658, with blue duct tape around the driver's side rear window.

Macomb Probate Court records show Marzejka was listed as a "mentally ill person," and a petition was filed in 2015 to commit him to a mental hospital, although the petition was dismissed in January 2018.

Police officials said they believed Marzejka suffers from mental illness, but weren't sure of a motive for the murders.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan was offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
