• Remember Robert Bobb? He's the former emergency manager of Detroit Public Schools and is now heading the police reform commission in Washington D.C. He offers his thoughts on why defunding police isn't the answer to cops killing civilians. He advocates for a whole community approach to addressing the causes of such confrontations.
• Our editorial continues that theme, arguing that the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act misses the mark and could actually place police and citizens in greater danger.
• Permanent masks? That's a possibility in Michigan, according to Ingrid Jacques, who found out state workplace regulators plan to make mask mandates permanent so they can be revived as needed without legislative approval.
• Columnist Salina Zito says there's a reason so many middle Americans are still displaying their Trump signs and flags.
• Rep. Fred Upton details a Republican strategy for addressing climate change.

Scientists have developed an ultra-white heat-deflecting paint that could replace air conditioning if it is used to cover the exterior of buildings.

Pfizer has discovered counterfeit versions of its COVID vaccine in Mexico. Instead of combatting the virus, the bogus shots are filled with anti-wrinkle serum, which isn't all bad, I guess.

New York likes political family dynasties, but is it ready to elect Andrew Giuliani, son of the former New York City mayor, as governor? The younger G-man met with former President Donald Trump to discuss a possible gubernatorial run.
