Ex-NFL kicker Shayne Graham joins Michigan State staff

It appears the Michigan State football team is adding some NFL experience to its coaching staff.

Shayne Graham, who spent 15 seasons as a kicker in the NFL, revealed on his Instagram account he'll be joining the Spartans' coaching staff. Graham spent last season as a quality-control coach at Central Michigan.

Michigan State has yet to announce the hire, which presumably is as a special-teams coach. Graham's bio on Twitter says he's part of Michigan State's special teams.

"Very excited to begin my next journey in my coaching career at Michigan State University," Graham wrote on Instagram. "I’m very grateful for the opportunity I had at Central Michigan University over the past year. It was hard to say goodbye for now. But I leave with amazing memories that I will cherish forever. I will always be a fan of coach John Bonamego and the rest of the #fireup family. Looking forward to the hard work and preparation for the 2018 season. #gogreen"

Graham played for 10 teams in the NFL from 2001-15, including seven seasons (2003-09) with the Cincinnati Bengals. He made the Pro Bowl with them in 2005.

Graham also played for the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.

He is 34th all-time in field goals made (277), and 36th all-time in points scored (1,260).

Graham played in college at Virginia Tech.
